Down-Under-the-26th-of-July-Bridge

Fifty-nine years ago today another Egyptian revolution climaxed with King Farouk high-tailing it for Italy.

A lame excuse for this side-note of youtube nitpickery:

The vehicle in Beyonce’s Thunderdome homage “Run the World (Girls)” bears the insignia of my alma mater The American University in Cairo.

With all Beyonce’s esoterica-ca, the riot-gear of the approaching men and the fact this version of the video looks a whole lot like down-under-the-26th-of-July bridge I think, ‘gee. that’s weird.’ and let zeitgeist-fatigue set in and drop the thought like an open can of tear-gas into the river.
